A $20,000 grant from the Catholic Foundation in fall 2018 has allowed St. Luke School in Erie to purchase new computers and computer tables. Lisa Louis, executive director of the Foundation explains, “With a purpose that includes funding technology for education, this project is a perfect match for the Foundation’s Education Endowment.”
At St. Luke all pre-k through 8th grade students are required to take computer class. Technology teacher, Heather Kimball, requested the grant because this equipment is crucial to student achievement.
Ms. Kimball says, “Educating the 21st century learner can be a difficult task when schools are not equipped with the proper tools to do so. We see the new technology as a wonderful opportunity for the students to be able to access the most up-to-date information and for them to empower their own learning; to be more creative and connected in the 21st century.”
“We cannot thank you enough for this wonderful opportunity for our students. We are excited to see the students learning with the new computers,” says Ms. Kimball.
