The Catholic Foundation of Northwest Pennsylvania board of directors is pleased to announce the addition of the Catholic Social Ministry Grant to its existing competitive grant processes. In addition, departments of the Diocese of Erie and parishes working in collaboration with diocesan offices in support of Family Ministries, Justice and Peace, Respect Life, Parish Social Ministry, Ministry with Persons with Disabilities, and Natural Family Planning are eligible to apply. Funding will be considered for projects which focus on:
- Counseling services for the poor
- Marriage and family life support programs
- Promoting better human relationships and a sense of community
- Care of the elderly
- Services for the poor and elderly
- Emergency services for the poor
Applications will be accepted June 14, 2021 through July 23, 2021. Complete criteria and guidelines should be reviewed by all potential applicants.
These grants are made possible by the vision and generosity of donors. Catholic Social Ministry grants are funded through the Foundation’s Catholic Charities Endowment which originated with donations designated for this endowment as part of the Capital Stewardship Campaign conducted by the Diocese of Erie during 2001through 2003. Four field of interest endowments – Clergy Health & Welfare, Education, Evangelization and Catholic Charities -- were established in the Catholic Foundation as a result of this campaign. Since then, additional donations continue to build the endowment which funds social ministry initiatives through grants.
